Antonella Delli Carpini

Graduated: 2001

Antonella/GondoliersUpon joining Proscenium, Antonella began to make her mark early on. Her love of music became evident very quickly. In one of our most difficult productions, The Secret Garden, Antonella’s voice soared among the Dreamers. In Children of Eden she was a huge part of an ensemble that required vocal prowess and beauty.

Through the years, Antonella became more and more involved with Proscenium, ultimately becoming one of its finest Presidents, leading the way for change and growth. Perhaps her most poignant and difficult role should have provided an inkling into the future. As Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret, Antonella displayed heartbreak and emotion at every turn.

From her roles onstage, to her total dedication to the organization and her loving spirit, Antonella has earned her place among Proscenium’s great successes.

Antonella is a spinto soprano. She is currently finishing her Masters of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She studies voice with mezzo-soprano Ariel Bybee of the Metropolitan Opera, and voice pedagogue Cornelius L. Reid, the “Galileo of Vocal Pedagogy.”

Antonella/La BohemeWith the UNL Opera, under the direction of Dr. William Shomos, she sang the role of Mimi in Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohéme, in November 2006. The following summer she sang the role of La Novizia in Puccini’s Suor Angelica in Novafeltria, Italy, and performed a concert series in the Le Marche region of Italy, including performances in Talamello, Pesaro, Sant’archangelo, and Cervia. While in Italy, she also sang the role of La Contessa Almaviva in selected scenes from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.

Antonella/GondoliersIn September of 2007, Antonella had the honor of being cast in a production of Frank Loesser’s The Most Happy Fella, which won the International Trophy for Best Production in the 2007 Waterford Crystal International Light Opera Festival, in Waterford, Ireland.

On January 20, 2008, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall, as a soloist in Franz Haydn’s Harmoniemesse. Antonella is looking forward to singing the role of Sister Rose in Jake Heggie’s new opera, Dead Man Walking, starting in February, 2008.

Other productions she has been involved in include: Susannah (Floyd), L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti), Madama Butterfly (Puccini), Gondoliers (Gilbert & Sullivan), La Cenerentola (Rossini), and Cosí fan tutte (Mozart).
